Physiotherapy in Bozeman

Ultrasoundon shoulderPhysiotherapy is a method of treating and preventing injury and disease. It aims to help alleviate pain, to restore normal movement patterns, and to return the body to a state of equilibrium without chemical intervention. Dr. Purser and Dr. Jones are also Bozeman physiotherapists.

How Physiotherapy Works

Physiotherapy modalities include the use of heat, cold, electric stimulation, ultrasound and traction which help the patient maximize functional movement and ability. These tools can help many conditions that affect the muscles and nerves to reduce pain and help a patient gain strength and flexibility.

Our doctors also will offer stretches and exercises that will assist the patient in achieving their goal.

Tools We Use

We have many tools that can address chronic and acute pain. These include the following:

Variable percussor – This high-frequency vibrator applies pressure in a pulsating fashion to a trigger point, which allows the trigger points to be erased.

Electro muscle stim – This tool helps to erase muscle memory; it’s also called Russian stim.

Ultrasound – This modality is helpful in decrease inflammation around the nerve and the tissues that are injured. We sometimes use a combination of EMS and ultrasound to erase muscle memory and decrease inflammation.

Stretches

services-physiotherapy_bannerGiven all the time we spend each day on our digital devices it’s no wonder that so many people have forward head posture. This modern malady has us leaning forward with our shoulders hunched, whether we’re looking on our phone or tablet or typing on our computer. When the body is curled forward that tends to tip the pelvis forward on the sacrum.

A lot of people will stand and grab their ankle and pull it up behind them. Although that helps to some degree, that action also tends to pull the pelvis forward a little bit. As an alternative, Dr. Jones can show patients a stretch that’s specific for the anterior thigh that will not only stretch the thigh but tip the pelvis back, which opens up the low back making it less vulnerable to injury, pain and discomfort.

Dr. Jones also has a six-minute exercise that he has patients do that strengthens the abs so that the low back is supported.

Enhancing the Work of Chiropractic

When a chiropractic adjustment is given and a change is made in the movement of the joints, or the structure of the spine, the soft tissue (muscles, ligaments, tendons, etc.) must adapt to those changes.

The doctors at Bridger Chiropractic Clinic have been thoroughly trained in the use of this equipment and find it helpful in assisting the body to adapt to the adjustments that are given. This will allow the body to hold the adjustments longer and ultimately to need fewer treatments to make a lasting improvement in the way a person moves and feels.

Providing Custom-Tailored Solutions

Dr. Ellen adjusting patientWhile other chiropractic offices sometimes use one particular technique or method as a one-size-fits-all approach, that’s not the case here. We pride ourselves on giving patients many different options that will work best for their bodies.

For example, Dr. Jones may use the Activator® instrument on you or see that you can benefit from dry needling or PulStar. In those cases, he will refer you to Dr. Purser.

If we’re not seeing progress in 3-4 visits, we will change up the techniques. With many tools at our disposal, we will find the ones that can help you get the results you’re seeking.

With our advanced techniques and comprehensive care, we can help you get out of pain and live your life fully. Call today to get started.
